Dark Eye with a Catchlight

My first seasonal encounter with a Dark-eyed Junco of the year. Their appearance here in central Ohio is always a harbinger that winter is right around the corner. They’ll stick with us through the snow. Shy and retiring, I was glad to get such a great up close encounter. Nice catchlight in the dark eye that gives the bird its name.
